A Last Post

Time seems to always be one step ahead of us – or at least me. I have found myself losing days as I try to grapple with coming back from Indiana and settling into a “new normal.” Therefore, this last post has been delayed longer than expected. Time was needed to process all of the emotions over the past month and a half and to

Indy Celebration of Life

To friends and family that could not make the South Carolina Celebration of Life, we are having one in Indianapolis. Originally, Amanda had wanted to have a birthday celebration in both locations for her 40th…but now it will be a different kind of party. Please come with stories and happiness, as Amanda hated the idea of lots of people crying over her. Here are the

Thank You for Your Donations

Amanda was so blown away by the support that everyone on here has shown. We began by asking for prayers, but was encouraged to ask for donations by friends wanting to help. With what has been raised here as well as through private Venmo donations, we have been able to cover all of the medical expenses that had been generated over the past year. She

An obituary…of sorts

This is not a typical obituary for Amanda, but I think she would prefer it this way much more: There once was a girl who had a smile that would light up any room she was in, and if it was shining at you, you couldn’t help but smile, too. That girl had a few names, depending upon who was talking – ones like Mandi,

A Beautiful Soul, A Beautiful Passing

I am so sadden to write that Amanda Paige lost her battle against cancer this morning. The past two days she was beginning to fade despite all of the attempts of doctors and loved ones. By this morning she was mostly incomprehensible and struggled to breathe. However, I could tell she was still present and trying to fight as hard as she could. The cancer

Good and Bad News

Let’s start with the good news – Amanda will make it home for Mother’s day. The kids are so excited to spend the day with her and to be able to give the gifts that they made her. I am not sure but I think they’ve decorated for it too. Regardless, it will be great to spend the time with them in our own home.

Prayers for Progress

I wish I had some better news to report. All of you have been great with your continued prayers for healing. I’m hoping we can shift the request that we pray for some progress. Amanda has been struggling to overcome the anxiety that she’s feeling from not being able to catch her breath. For the most part, her body is strong, but there are certain

Still a Work in Progress

Keep praying y’all! Amanda continues to make incremental progress. Today, we learned that we should be able to transition into a normal hospital room. Hopefully, there will be a bed available today. Additional prayers that we can get her out of the hospital by tomorrow. She would love to be home for Mother’s Day. Her time here has been rocky, with some good news and

A series of calamities

What a whirlwind it has been these past two weeks! As mentioned earlier, we received news of her cancer spreading and the need to find something more systemic that could help her. The following few days was spent having some long and tough conversations with friends and family about her journey. By the end of that week, she had symptoms of a UTI that was
