Celebration of Life

Friends and Family: we will have a Celebration of Life for Amanda in Beaufort on Thursday May 25th from 5-9pm at the Beaufort Yacht Club. Friday the 26th we will have a service at the Anderson Funeral Home from 1:30-2:30 with a graveside service afterwards. After the service, people can meet at the kids’ school Lowcountry Montessori School to talk, have kids play, whatever.

Please come and celebrate Amanda Thompson, but know we understand if you are unable to make it here. Please share stories/memories(with pictures, too) to mthompson@trackingpixelmedia.com so we can build a selection of positive stories that the kids can have and learn about how wonderful, kind, funny and compassionate their mom was to all people, not just her children.

If you are out of town and planning to come, we have a block of rooms at the Tru Hotel that you can reserve via here: https://www.hilton.com/en/book/reservation/deeplink/?ctyhocn=HHHBTRU&groupCode=COL&arrivaldate=2023-05-24&departuredate=2023-05-28&cid=OM,WW,HILTONLINK,EN,DirectLink&fromId=HILTONLINKDIRECT

For our Indiana friends, we will have a celebration of life up in Indiana some time during the summer. More details to follow.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the school’s capital campaign to expand and improve the school. The money collected in her name will be put toward the open air gym, which will be dedicated upon completion to Amanda.

Checks can be made out to LMS and sent to 749 Broad River Drive, Beaufort, SC 29902. You may also make Venmo donations to Amy-Horn-25. Please put your address in the Venmo, (for), if you would like to receive a receipt of donation. The school will share the list of donors with the family.

Thank you to all who have helped me take care of Amanda during this tough time. We were always blown away by your generosity and willingness to help- whether making meals, monetarily, sending care packages (usually with thick socks accompanying any gifts 😁), and emotionally with the huge outpouring of prayers texts and other messages.

Though everyone who ever ran into would find this statement hard to believe, Amanda used to say that she hated people. Mostly it was caused by what you see on the news and social media. However, after we could no longer shoulder this burden alone and asked for help, she said her mindset was completely changed and believed in the overwhelming kindness in others.

We cannot thank you enough.

  1. Matt, as one of Amanda’s many Indiana friends I will look forward to celebrating and honoring her memory with you here this summer. She has a number of Stout Field friends still around here that may want to join the celebration also.
Amanda was always a ray of sunshine! From now on, when I bask in the sunlight it will always fondly think of her.
