Let’s start with the good news – Amanda will make it home for Mother’s day. The kids are so excited to spend the day with her and to be able to give the gifts that they made her. I am not sure but I think they’ve decorated for it too. Regardless, it will be great to spend the time with them in our own home.
The bad – we are going home on hospice. Unfortunately, the cancer has spread too much, and is taking too much of a toll on her body. She doesn’t want to stop fighting at all, but it seems like we have not a lot of choice. Hopefully, we can take her home and make life as comfortable as possible surrounded by those who love her so much.
A dear friend who came to visit Amanda in the hospital today shared these images of her throughout the years, and I think it captures her soul so well:

Happy to hear you are going home!!!
Praise God she gets to go home!
I hate that you’re going through this, Amanda. Sending love and positive vibes for you and your family. Prayers already sent up for strength and peace for all of you.
I’m not sure if you’ll even remember me…it’s been a minute! My daughter, who was Carrie Powell at the time, and I lived downstairs from your neighbors in Vincennes. Carrie played with you and Kaylan. We actually learned about your cancer journey through Kaylan.
You seem to have grown into a very strong and capable young woman with terrific kids and husband. I’ll bet your mom is so proud of you.
Peace,
Andrea McCann
