We have had lots of fun, event-filled days since the last post! After the day at the beach we headed down to Hilton Head Island for a fun round of mini golf. Amanda and I are very competitive at this game, and I was not going to let sympathy get in the way of anything. Maggie and Alec both got a hole in one while playing,It was a close game, but the last hole handed Amanda the victory by one stroke! Afterwards, we hid from the rain by playing a number of arcade games. Finally, we went to pick up dinner at The Kitchen and were surprised when the owner – who is also a neighbor – comped us the food. It ended up being a great day.

Visiting Family
We were lucky to have spent an entire week with Amanda’s brother and wife. Lewis, who is a resident in Temple, TX and his wife Jaclyn came out to Beaufort during the small stint he had off. We started the week off strong by touring Savannah. We ate lunch at the Little Duck Dinner, walking down to the A.T. HUN ART GALLERY where we were able to see some Pete The Cat artwork. The artwork really pleased the inner teacher in Amanda. Following it we dropped into the Savannah Candy Kitchen that had amazing candy of all types. After some pie we stopped at the fountain shown in Forest Gump.

The rest of the week was a little more laid back since Amanda had been so wiped out by all the walking we did. We filled it with small jaunts to Beaufort, the beach, and anything that could allow Amanda to take a seat while enjoying their company. Nights were spent playing card and board games. Here’s some of fun had:

Round 4 is coming up and scans
Amanda has her 4th and hopefully last round of chemo on Thursday. This will be another long stint – until Tuesday – just like the 2nd round. On Friday the 10th, Amanda will have an MRI and several CT scans to see the effects chemo is having on the tumor and if there has been any spread. Keep us in your prayers for that day especially.
Here’s a post from Amanda about the upcoming round:
I go in for round four of chemo on Thursday. I’ll be in the hospital for 6 days.
I’m always nervous, anxious, and sad before I leave. I truly hate leaving the kids every time. The fear almost swallows me whole. I’m trying to muster all the strength and positivity I can.
My new manta for this round is…
I can do this!
I am ready to receive my healing.
My body is strong enough to kill the cancer.
Will you pray for this too? Will you send your positive love and light to help me?
Thank you!
