Round 3 Update: Fun in the Sun!

The kids have a mini break from school this weekend, and so on Thursday Amanda and the kids went to the beach. Along the way they stopped at the Saint Helena Parish Chapel of Ease Ruins so they could take a long “Flat Ellie,” which is a fun project that schools do based upon the Flat Stanley book series. In the project, children will send an image of themselves to family/friends hoping to have pictures returned to them from interesting destinations. Our good college friends’ daughter Ellie sent us her “Flat Ellie” and they posed with her image at the ruins.

Once at the beach, they had a relaxing day playing in the sand and by the water’s edge. Cindy, Amanda’s mom, was able to take some time off and join them at the beach. It was a little too cold to actually jump in. They all had a blast playing and came home very tired.

Here’s a Facebook post Amanda wrote as an update:

Round 3 Update: Today was SO good for my soul! The kids and I had the best time. The beach is the perfect place for healing. I’m so thankful the kids are off for this warm and beautiful day. I started feeling better on Tuesday. While it wasn’t as bad as the first round, the third round of chemo was still hard and has brought new challenges. I have said the first round was like breaking every bone in my body and this one was like only breaking half the bones. Better, but still brutal. I definitely have not given myself as much grace and patience as I should have. I’m trying to be better about that. Thank you for your continued prayers, love and light, and support. I love you all!

Here are some pictures from the day:

  2. What a glorious way to spend the day…sun, sand, water and your beautiful babies! I’m so in awe of how you continue to push forward and make the most of those good days! Your strength is shining through.
