Got out early, manageable effects

I apologize about the delay in this message, but it’s been a rush since getting back from the hospital. Our mantra recently has been “Not as long, not as bad, kill the cancer, and never come back.” Well the mantra worked as she finished her chemo an hour earlier than expected. We were able to break out of the hospital late on Saturday, and surprised the kids in the morning as they came down the stairs. Since being home, the after effects have not been as bad as the last time. Amanda has consistently had more energy, and been able to do much of what she has set out to do during the day.

Yesterday, we made the trip down to Hilton Head where she squeezed in a Vitamin C and hyperbaric treatment in the morning. We followed it up by a lovely lunch in downtown Bluffton. We soaked up the sun and took a stroll. In the evening, Amanda drove Maggie to her ‘acro’ practice and watched her work hard. While there, one of the instructors who also works at the kids’ school gave wonderful compliments to Amanda about Maggie and Alec. She said they seem to be handling this whole difficult situation with as much grace as possible. All in all, a great day!

Today is a bit of a different story. Amanda’s in a bit more pain as the chemo really sink its teeth in her. The worst of the effects start today and last until about 3 days from now. So, please keep your prayers up that the effects are “Not as long, not as bad.”

  1. So glad she was able to get through the second round a bit quicker and take advantage of some manageable time before getting kicked
    By the chemo.

So proud of the way you and Amanda are facing this awful disease and helping the kids know it’s serious but you’re still their loving parents.

Remember all the people that love and pray for you everyday. Sending love from some of your Indiana family.🙏🥰

    1. Thanks Mom McColgin! I miss you, and appreciate your prayers very much! We are doing our best with balancing this whole thing. Some days are better than others. We are starting talks about heading up to Indiana again to have a get together with family and friends. Would love for you to be able to make it, so I’ll keep you posted!
