Almost done with round 2!

Time flies when you’re fighting sleep depravation and have home sickness! Amanda checked in to the hospital on Thursday, and should get out Tuesday morning. Her vitals and test results are all good, save her liver levels being slightly high. The docs are not too concerned about it right now. Overall, this time has been much better than the last when she was fighting the “red devil.” We are very thankful for that! Reading back on that post, I realize that we didn’t share how painful things were for her. She was very nauseous the entire time, and incredibly loopy due to the drugs they gave her to fight the nausea.

This time around, we had a bit more of a game plan, and so far it has worked. She’s taken a lot less drugs for nausea, and has not been loopy at all. That has lifted her spirits a lot. Also spirit lifting is how we have been able to walk around the floor more, and she has even done a few workout routines. Last time she barely got out of bed.

During our what we joke as our “spa retreat,” Amanda has watched a number of new tv shows thanks to a friend sharing their Discovery+ login info. Also, we have played a few games together, see the image above, and watched a movie over two nights. I’ve been able to get some work done, too, which is great.

Exciting Visitors!

The highlight of the weekend was on Saturday. The kids and Cindy came up to visit! They visited Amanda in the room for a bit, but then the three of us went to Hampton Park, which is only a few mins from the hospital. It is such a fun park! Giant magnolia trees that you can climb, beautiful paths to walk, and a nice fountain area that we threw flower petals into. It was cold, but the kids enjoyed it a lot.

After the park, we went to Off Track and ate some ice cream. They have a great selection of non-dairy ice cream so Maggie can enjoy it too! They definitely earned it after all the walking we did at the park.

It was hard to say goodbye to the kids, and Cindy too. We love being with the kids, and really hate the spa. With only one more night, we are ready to get back home and get some real, uninterrupted sleep. If it’s not the nurses, it’s the machine delivering fluids beeping at you randomly, and nearly always for no reason. One more night!
