Amanda felt great coming home and the first day back from the hospital. The next day, she felt like a train had hit her – nausea and fatigue was persistent. Now a few days on, she’s feel more human, especially after putting on eye liner for the first time in over a week. Though she’s still very tired, she gets up does a few things, rests, gets up to do a few more things, and rests.
Tomorrow she will do her first ‘dive,’ which means she will get her first hyperbaric treatment at Hilton Head Hyperbarics. This is a technique used in a lot of alternative cancer treatments. From my understanding of it – the concept is that the pressured environment and 100% oxygen puts stress on the body that stimulates the healing process. Normal cells can handle this, but cancer cells are not equipped with the coping mechanisms to stress. At a minimum, the treatment will allow her body to heal faster from the damage of chemo, which is a win.
Keep up your thoughts and prayers, and we’ll keep you posted! Her next round will be in early January.
